Sub rolls

This is so easy when using your bread machine dough feature!
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 16 minutes
rising times 2 hours
Course: Bread

Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups bread flour
  • 1.25 cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2.5 tsp instant yeast
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • .25 cup vegetable oil

Equipment

  • bread machine

Method

  1. place all of this in your bread machine and set it to the dough cycle.
  2. Hit the start button and let the machine be your helper.
  3. When your machine either beeps or after it has kneaded well, check to see if it needs a little flour (if it feels sticky, a tablespoon) or a little water (if it's dry, a tsp is usually good).
  4. Now let the machine do the work of kneading your dough and completing your first rise.
  5. Once it is done, plop on your counter and slightly deflate (usually happens simply moving it around into a shape you're wanting to cut…I go with a round and then cut into 8 triangles
  6. Shape each triangle into a log/bun shape. Don't overthink this…an oval….4 or 5 inches. …sprinkle pan or parchment paper with a small amount of cornmeal and place each bun on to pan for a 2nd rise.
  7. Let the rise last 30 or 40 minutes ( double in size)…place metal pan in bottom of your oven and set temperature to 400.
  8. Once 2nd rise is finished and oven is set, place one cup of water into pan to create steam and then bake rolls for 15-20 minutes.
  9. If desired, melt butter and brush warmed buns with this. Cool buns or let cool a bit before serving if using for subs.

Notes

(2nd rise and ready to go in the oven.)
Please be sure to NOT use glass in your oven when adding water…it will shatter!
