OY….we’ve been terribly sick around here. From what I gather, a big portion of us have either been sick or can’t leave the house due to incredible amounts of snow. With that, we’ve been slightly messy around here with lack of giving one iota of care. It is what it is…we want our meds, our rest, something warm to drink.
This was a sad attempt of a valentine tree and it really only looked nice in the dark with the lights on….will need to remedy this for next year. I’m thinking of some easy salt dough heart ornaments. ….anywho, notice meds….it has been real around here!
I wanted to share this because it did actually help me and I never got a fever and am pretty sure I did not get the actual flu. A friend shared this combination with me….she has cancer and her doctor said if she felt even the possibility of something coming to take this. That orange box is not cheap but I took it for a few days and swear it made me feel better.
I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day. I was gifted a new bedroom….aka, this was the one room in the house that we have ignored for the 18 years we have lived here so we finally decided the office carpet needed to go….also, Mikey is so much better than he’ll ever admit to. There was no new furniture but he and the boys laid down new flooring and Mikey wallpapered and painted for me. (this pic is all the colors that I was considering) The wallpaper was something new for us. I have a ton of peel and stick as well as true bead board in our home….BUT, we have not had the pasted wallpaper and bead board can be a pain…..so…..I found paintable, wallpaper, bead board…. And I went with the malted milk and the darker brown initially but later just had the malted milk and we have a white called ‘marshmallow’ throughout our house.
Real Quick…this was my bedroom before….nice enough but very dark, beyond clutter and the bed is so huge, there was hardly any room.
Mikey built all of this on an anniversary and I have loved this…still do…it’s not going but that space with the fireplace and unwatched tv is going to be replaced with precious, needed shelving for storage…..or this will take a bit longer to come up with the exact idea but…..there it is…..kind of cozy honestly….may have to rethink changes but seriously, I think I can count on one hand how many times we’ve used that television.
One too many times looking at Pinterest and this wall looked awful……you can kind of see on the right side of the picture the texture of the bead board. …..oy…Mikey was not happy about painting over all that tan/smeared poo but he agreed it was not what we were going for.
Mikey and the boys did amazing with this floor…the office carpet will NOT be missed!!!
The occasional nap was had in the extra bedroom that became the dumping ground for everything…poor bedding did not survive paint and messes.
These were pics I took last night….those sconces are the best….I wish I could photograph the actual lighting better…the pink on the wall is actually called malted milk and the glow had a peachy, warm effect. The sconces also have little pucks that fit inside and they’re rechargable….plus, you can change the colors and the brightness.
I need to move the little stepladder but I’ve still got pictures and a few things to put up. ….even in the dark, this room looks soooooooo much bigger. We brought a queen size in here and moved the bigger king to the guest bedroom. That mirrored dresser is from when I was little. …..and the little bench/ottoman in front of the window needs to be recovered. I usually have a blanket covering a small area that an old cat of ours tore up!!!…but I love the bench because it keeps sheets and blankets well hidden!
My Betty Boop reminds me of our trip to Epic this past summer. …..I love having a fireplace in almost every room and thinking this will be the replacement for what’s currently in our closet area. …..Mikey built all the doors….I love them.
Bit messy but thinking a friend is taking the fireplace for her daughter’s home. The idea currently is to paint inside this area and build a few large shelves to house baskets…….any thoughts are appreciated. do you think the white will look good in here while leaving the doors just as they are? or keep it in the darkness and just build shelves to match the doors?
